Is this the end of PDP in Edo State?

Last Week at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City Hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Members in Edo Sate decamped to the Action Congress (AC)lead by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the executive Governor of Edo State.
Although, the members of AC are jubilating over the decamping, however, some political think tank do believe that instead of the decampment being the end of the PDP that it should rather be seen as the begin of trouble and end game for the Action Congress. There reasons are, (a)That it is the trouble makers in PDP that decamped to AC (b) That they decamped because they were sure they would not be nominated for second term in office by the PDP and that Oshiomholes' AC has assured them of automatic ticket. (c) The decamped members have aquired/stolen so much money from their various councils that they will come into AC and buy power and position. If the original members of AC resist them the decampees we start their usual faction politics which is their hallmark thereby destroying AC.
The voters are watching carefully.

IN EDO STATE TAX IS IT

The Edo State government led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is dutifully enforcing the tax laws of the state. Before now, the people of the state were reluctant to pay their taxes but with the advent of this administration the sing song is pay your tax. I hope the people responds positively because they have never being taxed heavily before now and the previous government were never serious about collecting taxes due to availability of oil money. Hospitals, private schools and landlords who require certificate of occupancy are now being asked to pay their taxes.
As expected there are loud complains and protest every where already. Loudest of them all is the one by the medical doctors using their Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) as the organ for protest. But the government has resisted all of them and its going on with is programs.
The people fear is that the government will not use the resources to develop the state? They allege that the governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, cruises around with 40 to 50 cars convey a huge waste of the peoples' taxes.

Oba of Benin says Eso is the Owner of Eso Oil Well

Oba of Benin Kingdom gives verdict in the land dispute over the owner of the oil well located in Eso clan community that was being disputed by Oheze-Naka and Evboghae communities.
You will recall that about a year ago the land dispute was brought before the Omo-Noba-Nedo. His Royal majesty set up a high powered panel to look into the dispute. The panel was headed by chief (Professor) Emovon, a former Vice Chancellor of the University Jos and former Minister of Science and Technology. The committee investigated all claims to ownership. The Chairman visited the villages four times and was reported to ride Okada machine into the jungle.
In all they submitted their report to the Oba affirm that Eso owns the Land.

In Benin City the road Network has improved

The present Government of Professor Osereimen Osunbor has done well in the last 11 months by constructing several roads in Benin City and the other senatorial district. he has virtually tared many roads amongst them are St Saviour Street and the dualization of Akpapkava road and upper sokponba road. The roads has reduced the time it takes to move from one end of town to the other. The question my people are asking is what did Lucky Igbinedion do with the state money? if he could not tare one road in the eight years he was in power. Well as you well know, the election of Osareimen Osunbor has been nullified by the electoral tribunal. He has appealed against the judgement at the appeal court. The gist is that he constructed the roads thinking the election tribunal was going to ask them to go for re-election and would have used them as a campaign tool. Now that we are waiting for the tribunal, if Osunbor losses, he will definitely come back again some day to rule Edo State. The gist in town is that if Oshomohle wins at the appeal court and is eventually sworn in, he will not be able to construct as many roads as Osunbor the in 11 months.

Commisisoner Calus Enoma died of natural causes.

The sudden death of Edo State commissioner of Information in a hotel room some weeks ago was of natural cause. Confirming this in Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mike Okiro said Claus Enoma died of serious cardiac arrest from respiratory infection. Therefore confirm rumours that has being making rounds since the incident happen at Precious Palm royal motel Ugbowo, Benin City. The gossip was that Calus Emona wife traveled out to England and he invited his University of Benin girlfriend to a night of sexual orgy. The gist has it that the honourable commissioner got high of some specail viagra call 701. In fact he was said to have taken double shots in anticipation of "action" only to die on top on the girl who got scared and ran away abadoning the corpse in the hotel room. As you will recall, the body was not found until three days later after the state government has decleared him missing and accused Comrade Adams Oshomhole of having kidnapped him. The state government gave Adams Oshomhole a three days ultimatum to produce the commissioner. But the state govenment has since appologised to Adams Oshomhole. His burial will be annouced soon and may his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen

Nigeria Gas Company frustrates pipeline project

On the 15th of April 2008, The Enegie of Oheze, Eso, Ugo and Oben communities went to warri to meet with the management of Nigeria Gas Company NGC and Zakeem Engineering to discus their differences on the laying of Gas pipeline from Oben in Edo State to Geregu in Kogi State. The NGC staff at the meeting were arrogant and instead of discussing the issues that will bring all the parties together they were busy patronizing the visitors. The Enegie had asked for Schools and hospitals in the various communities. However, the NGC whose lease on the land which they had laid a previous pipeline had expired insisted that they were expecting the Enegie to pay outstanding rent on the farm land to NGC. Their assertion was that since NGC had leased the land from the enegie they, the enegie, had no right to plant/farm on the pipeline right of way. The discussions were heated but another meeting has been scheduled for next week.
