A follow up on our discussion ..... The title, the Esama of Benin is a highly respected and reverend title in Benin Kingdom. It is bestowed on influential sons of Benin Kingdom and there is only one Esama at a time. Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion was made the Esama of Benin Kingdom by the highly respected Oba of Benin, Oba Akenzua 11 of blessed memory. Oba Akenzua you will recall is the father of the present Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa of Benin.
My response to Prince Stephen Obakpee on the issue of Igbinedion
collecting money from farmers in Okada..... @ Prince Stephen Obakpee my brother let me remind you of
some very salient point here. Chief Igbinedion is a Benin man and a wise one at
that. When money had REAL value he invested in many interest and protected them
very well. He became a big palm farm owner in Ovia North East. I am very sure
that all his landed property in Edo State are well covered with C of O issued
by his son Lucky Igbinedion including this said farm land. His action has kept
the yoruba farmers at bay and protected the long term interest of the Benins.
He has done well. He collects rent from those Farmers because they are his
tenants. Personal issue like likeness and hatred should not becloud our
analysis especially when it comes to the Benin Nation.
Sometime ago the
Yorubas from neibouring states were encroaching on Benin land. The Benins did
not want to experience the Gele-Gele land grab again, so they reason that the
land should be giving to major Benin sons who could use them for farming. I
recall that Iyayi got some just like the Esama. The Esama planted palm and the
Yorubas have been renting part from him ever since then. Now the yorubas are
asking for school, street lights etc. The Comrade Governor as always is dancing
to the Gallary by saying that any Nigerian can leave anywhere they want without
looking at the long term implication of his action. We will not allow Comrade
Adams to cede our land either to the yorubss or ijaws in the name of MR GOOD
GUY.

On 12th February 2013, I wrote a post on this blog and EPF about the Good governance tour arriving in the South-South of Nigeria and how some people had express fear that Edo State government may not have projects to showcase. A few days back in a meeting to sensitise tax payers, the Governor said that Edo State will not pay money to host the federal government representative. What a joke. Many in the State are worried that the government is shying away from tour because it will expose his RING ROAD based development. The people of Orionmwion, Uhunmwode, Ovia South West, Ovia North East and Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Areas all in Edo South says they were eager to confront the governor in a town hall meeting. We no be mumu. Our brothers from Edo Central said wetin you kill? Answer, see am for ground. Propaganda works but only for a little while. The people will sooner of later start to ask questions. As they would have done in a Town Hall meeting. Wind don blow fowl yansh don open.
