The fuel crisis is Benin City has taken a torn for the worse. Inhabitants now spend as much as 24 hours at the fuel stations to get a minimum of 10 litres. The question many people are asking now is that what is the Federal ans State government doing to reverse this trend. But from our investigation one will have to conclude that nothing is been done. The story making the round has it that the may refinery is being serviced. But how can a refinery of a country with over 160 million people embark on servicing without making provision on how to sustain the population? All the people want now is fuel for the vehicles and farm equipment.

The evil of fuel shortage is back to Benin City again. I do not know what is responsible for this current fuel shortage, but its effects are evident everywhere. Car owners, bus drivers, motorcycle transport operators popularly called okada riders and small scale business owner are negatively affected. Some now spend as much as three days at the various filling stations in order to buy fuel. I have been reliable informed too that they petrol station owners might but rationing what they have and that they are seriously involve in underhand deals like supplying feul to the black market where the fuel sells for 500% of the approved price. My advice is that people should plan their trips and avoid unnecessary movements. People should also not store fuel at home. I just hope the federal government will do some thing to savage the situation.

Edo State of Nigeria celebrates two of their illustrious sons Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia and Chief Dr. Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion born in September. The birthday of Chief Igbinedion is 11th September, he is 78 years old. While that of Dr. Ogbemudia is 18th, his is 80 years old. Dr Ogbemudia was a two time governor of the old Midwestern State and later Bendel State. The State was later divided into Edo and Delta States. It is good to note that Dr Ogbemudia became a military Governor in 1967 at the age of 35 while the president or Head of State at the time was 28 years old, a feet no longer possible in today's Nigeria. He was elected as Governor in 1983, but their government was over thrown by a military coup lead by General Mohammend Buhari. Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion is a businessman. He is also the Esama of Benin Kingdom, a highly place Chief in the Oba of Benin Palace. He pioneered the private Airline industry and private University in Nigeria. He owned defunct Okada Airline, Igbinedion University, Igbinedion Education Centre (which is a private primay and secondary school). Chief Igbinedion is regarded as a marketing genius. He named his Airline after his village Okada, and because the Airline was marketed as the cheapest way to travel, Nigerians bought into it and today they popularly call motorcycle transport in the country Okada.
Again happy Birthday to these two great sons of Edo State.

Yesterday, September 11th 2012 a big crater opened up at the middle of the Benin- Abraka Road near the Ikpe river. We are calling on the Ministry of  N iger Delta to instruct RCC to move to that site immediately before it start to kill our people. As a matter of fact that Federal road is the only federal presence in the whole of Orhionmwon Local Government area.

The attention of the Federal Ministry of/for the Niger Delta is urgently needed to deal with the issues arising from the road construction going on along the Benin-Abraka Road. The road as you are all aware was awarded for construction by the Ministry in 2010 to the Reynolds Construction Company, RCC. But 2 years on they have only done about 8 kilometres. The road is one of the major link-road between Edo State and Delta Statel It links Benin City to the University town of Abraka and Benin City to the food basket of Edo State, Orhionmwion Local Government Area. The question people are asking is has the Federal Government not meant their obligation to the contractor for the job? If they have, how much was paid and what is the duration for the execution of the contract? If RCC is capable of constructing the Road, why is it taking them forever?

The issues of our environment and the safety of our traders in our markets are serious issues of concern to me and my party. We went to the market to thank our people for their votes and found our people trading in the streets. We asked them why this new development which we observed after the elections? They gladly told us that it was a concession giving to them by ACN for voting for their candidate. I am glad that the Comrade Governor addressed this issue by drawing the attention of the environmental ministry to it and showing thier meeting on the evening news.
