A bill to tax land owners and building owners was introduced and passed by the Edo State house of Assembly and was signed into law late yesterday by the state governor Comrade Adams Oshiomole. The bill has generated a lot of controversies right from the day it was introduced and has claimed many causalities among them were the members of the assembly that were against the bill the were summarily removed from their chairmanship of committees in the house. Then came the public statement by the majority leader of the house that the bill was targeted towards rich people that leaves in the GRA and have uncompleted hotel buildings like the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion. Now the Esama’s radio and television has gone to town interview people who are condemning the majority leader. Lastly, the all  powerful Edo Political Forum, EPF that has over 6,000 members and very active on Facebook has joined forces with the Edo Youth Congress,  EYC to call on the people of Edo State to occupy the state assembly on Monday from 6am.
