BUDAPEST — A $1.5 million Ferrari operated by a person with driving skills more suited to a Ford Fiesta crashed within moments of leaving a dealership in the Hungarian capital.
The accident was captured last weekend on video by the driver of a car following the LaFerrari, one of the most expensive vehicles in the world, on a busy street.
At first, everything seemed to be going well, but then a lane opened up and the driver of the LaFerrari hit the gas hard, causing the 950-horsepower hybrid to fishtail and careen off the street and into parked cars.
While no one was hurt, the rare sports car sustained serious damage to its front end.
The Daily Mail, citing reports, said the crash occurred shortly after the car left the dealership and that the driver jumped out and removed the license plates, possibly to conceal his or her identity.
The LaFerrari is a beast of car, capable of 0-62 mph in less than three seconds. Ferrari manufactured only 499 of them, reportedly with a price tag of $1.5 million each.
Previous crashes involving LaFerraris have been reported in Monaco, China and France.
