New Tanzania President did this in just 3 Month – AMAZING

New Tanzania President did this in just 3 Month – AMAZING

On November 5, 2015 Tanzania swore into office a new President. Coincidentally he is also a John.
John Magufuli is doing what has been termed the “Rwandanisation of Tanzania”. If you dont know about what Paul Kagame has done with Rwanda make Google your friend.
New Tanzania President did this in just 3 Month - AMAZING
Here are some of the things John Magufuli has done already in LESS THAN A MONTH. Not in 3 or 6 years, one month. He’s shown a clear commitment to walk the talk but not to talk and talk and talk and talk more like we do here:
1. Soon after his election, Magufuli declared there would be no celebration of Independence Day on 9 December because it would be “shameful” to spend huge sums of money on the celebrations when people were dying of cholera. Instead, the day has been set as a national day of cleanliness, and the money will go toward street¬cleaning services. He has said everybody should pick up their tools and clean their backyards.
2. After his first official visit to the Muhimbili Hospital, and seeing the horrible state it was in, he ordered over 200 million shillings marked for “parliament parties” be used to pay for beds for people lying on the floor and sharing beds.
A few days later 300 beds were delivered. He dismissed the governing board and got a new team in place, and within days the broken MRI was fixed. He also pared down his inauguration party from $100,000 to $7,000 and sent the extra money to the hospital.
3. Three days into his term, Magufuli announced a ban on all foreign travel by government officials. They have been instructed to instead make regular visits to rural areas to learn and help solve problems facing everyday Tanzanians. All tasks that required officials to travel abroad would instead be done by high commissioners and ambassadors who are already in place.
4. He has restricted all first¬ and business class travel to government officials, except the president, vice¬president and prime minister.
5. There will be no more workshops and seminars in expensive hotels when there are so many ministry board rooms available.
6. He suspended the Tanzania Revenue Authority’s chief and other officials pending investigations after a visit by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa to the port of Dar es Salaam found 350 containers listed in its books were missing.
7. When he had to travel 600km to Dodoma, from Dar, to officially open parliament last week, he didn’t order a private jet – instead, he chose to drive.
8. At the National Assembly in Dodoma last week he clearly sent out the message that it will not be business as usual under his leadership.
9. He promised to cut public spending, fight corruption and enhance accountability in public service. He said it is time for Tanzanians to walk the talk.
10. Magufuli reportedly told parliamentary leaders that the people of Tanzania want him to solve their problems and not make speeches.

Insurgency: African leaders to ban full-face veil

Insurgency: African leaders to ban full-face veil

on
By Yinka Ajayi with agency reports
Following commitment by African leaders to curtail insurgency in Africa, West African leaders during the week were seeking to “forbid” women wearing full-face veils in an effort to battle the growing number of female suicide bombers.
veilThe president of the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) Commission, Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, told newsmen at the close of a two-day summit in Abuja that leaders must take “measures that would forbid the kind of dress that will not allow security personnel to be sure of their identities.”
As it loses swathes of territory to the Nigerian army, Boko Haram have in recent months started launching guerilla-style attacks, using young women and girls as suicide bombers by hiding explosives under their clothes.
Boko Haram has used the tactic similarly in Cameroon, Chad and Niger, countries that have already enforced bans on veils earlier this year.
You will recall that President Muhammadu Buhari vowed to end the Boko Haram insurgency before the end of December 2015, but the deadline looks likely to be missed as attacks persist.
A vigilante civilian and four female suicide bombers were killed Wednesday at a checkpoint in northeast Nigeria after one of them detonated her explosives.
A local official said that four girls between the ages of nine and 12 were stopped at the checkpoint, but the information was not confirmed.

A CALL ON HON. EHIOZUWA JOHNSON AGBONAYIMA, AKA EJ TO RETRACE HIS WRONG STEPS

Hon Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayima, aka EJ, the member of House of Representative representing the good people of Ikpoba-Okha.
A CALL ON HON. EHIOZUWA JOHNSON AGBONAYIMA, AKA EJ TO RETRACE HIS WRONG STEPS
Our attention has been drawn to the wrong action taken by Hon. Ehizuwa Johnson Agbonayima in the appointment of Pharez Okpere as his Personal Assistant and three other non Benins as his personal staff in the House of Representative. I hear there is an Igbo, a Yoruba and an Urhobo. These were Hon. EJ’s first appointments preferring outsider over his poverty riding people of Ikpoba Okha. Pharez Okpere is from Uromi in Edo Central. He politic and vote in his community Uromi and should therefore be appointed by his representative.
Hon EJ did wrong and committed an unforgivable political sin against the people of Ikpoba- Okha by appointing Pharez Okpere and the three non Benins in his employ to the position that is meant for the youths of Ikpoba-Okha.
The Representative of Edo Central WILL NEVER appoint anyone from Edo South to such a position. Hon Segius Osesojie will never appoint an Ikpona- Okha youth to such a position when his people are yet to be employed? No. It is foolishness on the part of Hon EJ and that is how our Representatives over the years have indirectly under developed our people. This is going to turn out to be the mistake that will undo EJ political career.
On the day of EJ’s election, a youth in ward 9 was shot dead by political thugs. At St Maria Gorreti Secondary School, his supporters engaged the APC agents in a fist fight that resulted in the hospitalization of many. Now he has won and the best way to compensate these people is to use the position zoned to them to do sadaka. EJ retrace your steps now and appoint a true Ikpoba-Okha youth.
I understand that the attention of EJ’s wife, Mrs. Itohan Agbonayima, was drawn to this grievous mistake at the onset, but that she explained it away by saying we are all Nigerians. However, when asked to name anyone from Edo South that has been so appointed by Reps of Edo Central she became short of words.
To some this may look insignificant but to the unemployed youths of Ikpoba-Okha this is big and the people of Edo South this is major set back.
If you go to business establishment like the banks and other companies in Benin City you hardly see an Edo South youth being employed. If you go to the commercial nerve centres in the city we are pushed out. Now even in the positions that is traditionally meant for our people, with constituencies tribally zoned to Edo South is being gleefully and stupidly fanned out by our Representative to others. This is way out wrong and must be corrected. Which way Edo South people?

GOV POLL: Edo in Disapora kick against Obaseki

Vanguard Newspaper Wednesday, December 16th, 2015
LAGOS - DINGINESS of Edo State under the platform of Edo in Diaspora, EID, have warned against the alleged plan to impose the chairman of the Economic Team of Edo State Government, Mr Godwin Obaseki as the likely successor to Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Prince Iyobosa Eweka noted that the alleged plan would not only back fire but would succeed in handing over the Government House to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2016.

He said, 'The Edos in Diaspora want Oshiomhole to provide a level playing field for all the governorship aspirants. Attempts to impose Obaseki in next year's poll will not only backfire but will succeed in handing over the Osadebe Government House to the opposition PDP. The rumoured move to impose an Obaseki on Edos is bound to fail.

'Indeed the Obaseki is a tittle that was given to a prosperous regent who became an administrator when Oba Ovoramen was sent on exile, sequel to the Benin massacre of 1897. He was compensated as an administrator of the kingdom and indeed made move to usurp the throne. Oba Eweka, in order to re-enact full control over his fathers kingdom honoured the rich and the urbane. The crown supersedes your wealth or commerce. We believe that the Governor Oshomhole has been ill-advised

'Our elders at home cannot stay aloof. They should educate the political leaders on the implication of that choice, We shall resist this seriously.

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump entered a Wednesday-afternoon campaign rally in the most dramatic fashion.
The Republican presidential front-runner pulled up in his "Trump Force One," his personal Boeing 757-200 jet with "TRUMP" written in giant letters across the side.
The rally, conveniently, was at an airplane hanger in Mesa, Arizona. His plane drove in front of the hangar twice before Trump got out.
"So we had three venues," he told his supporters. "The first one too small. The second one too small. The third one too small. We said, 'Does anybody have an airplane hanger?'"

Serena Williams Takes On Body-Shaming Haters In Powerful Speech

"I've had people look down on me, put me down because I didn’t look like them -- I look stronger."

ANDY KROPA/INVISION/AP
Speaking at the Sports Illustrated "Sportsperson of the Year" ceremony held in her honor on Tuesday night, Serena Williams addressed the body-shaming that she has had to face and overcome throughout her career, emphasizing just how important internal acceptance is when seeking external success.
“I’ve had people look down on me, put me down because I didn’t look like them -- I look stronger,” she said in her acceptance speech. “I’ve had people look past me because the color of my skin, I’ve had people overlook me because I was a woman, I’ve had critics say I [would] never win another Grand Slam when I was only at number seven -- and here I stand today with 21 Grand Slam titles, and I’m still going.”
Williams continued, spending much of her time onstage addressing the difficult ride she’s had and the self-confidence that has been necessary to ignore the naysayers and achieve greatness.
The trek to get to this stage and this moment of her career was not easy. “I’ve lived through tragedies and controversies and horses,” she said, the latter being a not-so-subtle reference to the recent debate as to whether she or the Triple Crown winner American Pharoah was more deserving of the "Sportsperson of the Year" title. But now, looking back, Williams explained that each and every one of these emotional and physical hurdles, these internal and external struggles, led her to that podium in New York City on Tuesday night, making history as the first individual woman in more than three decades to earn the crown of "Sportsperson of the Year."
“For all the ladies out there, yes we can do it,” she said. “My hope by winning this award [is that I] can inspire many, many, many more women … to stand right here on this podium and accept another ‘Sportsperson of the Year,’ so yes ladies it can be done.
“In 1984 in Compton is where I began my journey of becoming a tennis player on beaten down courts," she said. "Now 30 years later, I still have goals and still have dreams of winning, and this award actually makes me want to work harder to reach more goals.”

Meet Adeyemo, son of Nigerian immigrant whom Obama appointed security adviser

President Barrack Obama of the United States on Tuesday appointed Nigeria-born Adewale Adeyemo as the deputy national security adviser (NSA) for international economics. In a statement annoucing Adeyemo’s appointment, Obama said the African-American helped the US combat global economic recession which started in 2008. “I am grateful that Caroline’s (Atkinson, former deputy NSA) work will be carried on by Adewale ‘Wally’ Adeyemo, who has served in my administration since 2009,” he said. “At the treasury department, he was part of the team that helped coordinate our response to the global recession, laying the foundation for renewed growth at home and abroad. “He helped establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and he’s been our point person on a range of international economic issues, including negotiations on strong currency agreements around the trans pacific partnership. “I will be calling on Wally’s intellect, judgment and dedication as we sustain America’s global economic leadership, which reinforces our national security, and as we work with allies and partners around the world to create jobs and opportunity for all our people.” ADEYEMO’S PARENTS LEFT FOR GREENER PASTURES When he appeared before the US senate committee on banking, housing, and urban affairs in September, he appreciated his parents who left Nigeria to seek a better life for him. “While they could not be here today, I want to acknowledge my father and mother who immigrated to this country in search of the American dream and the opportunity to give my brother, sister, and me a better life,” he had said. “They have worked hard, as an elementary school principal and a nurse, to give tremendous opportunities to their children, but along the way, they have instilled in us the values that guide us every day. “They often remind us that this country affords the chance to do anything we wanted if we work hard.  And they have taught us that we have a responsibility to serve the community and the country that has afforded them so many opportunities.” GRADUATE OF YALE LAW SCHOOL The 34-year-old graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor’s of arts, before moving to Yale Law School, where he bagged his Juris Doctor (JD) for further studies in specialised law. While at Yale, he was the co-director, project on law and education for the university. Before his appointment, Adeyemo was the deputy chief of staff at the department of the treasury, a position he held for three years. He has served in various positions at treasury, including senior advisor to the chief of staff and deputy executive secretary. Adeyemo also worked as the chief of staff at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2010 to 2011.  He was an editor for the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution from 2008 to 2009. COULD HE BECOME THE GOVERNOR OF US FEDERAL RESERVES? The governor of the US federal reserves is equivalent to that of Nigeria’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Adeyemo’s position as deputy NSA has been the springboard to Michael Froman, who is currently the US trade representative and Lael Brainard, Federal Reserve governor. American finance experts also believe that the post can serve as a springboard to the Nigeria-born who is toeing the same line as those who have gone ahead of him on the job. But the question still remains; can Adeyemo become the first Nigerian US citizen to be governor of the US federal reserve? Follow us on twitter @thecableng Copyright 2015 TheCable. The would-be suicide bombers, described as adolescent girls, entered Kolofata just before dawn, residents and officials told Reuters.DOUALA (Reuters) - Security forces armed with guns and arrows killed two young women wearing explosive vests in a north Cameroon town on Monday, the second raid there in days by suspected Boko Haram militants from neighbouring Nigeria, witnesses said.
"The first kamikaze (suicide bomber) exploded near my house ... When she entered, the local vigilance committee fired an arrow at her head and she set off her bomb," said resident Bahoua, who declined to give his full name.
Self-defence groups have sprung up across north Cameroon and are overseen by the army.
The other young woman was shot by special forces, known by their French initials BIR, one of the sources said. There were no reports of anyone else being killed or wounded in the town about 10 km (6 miles) from the Nigerian border, said locals.
Suicide attacks have become an almost daily occurrence in Cameroon's Far North Region despite a military operation late last month to flush out the militants who are seeking to cave out an Islamist state in Nigeria.
No one claimed responsibility for the attempted bomb attack but officials blamed Boko Haram for an assault that killed 10 people in the same town on Friday.
Boko Haram fighters are mostly based in northeast Nigeria but have expanded their campaign, setting up camps and launching attacks in neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon.
These countries along with Nigeria and Benin have formed a 8,700-strong regional task force to combat the group, although joint operations have yet to begin and national armies are increasingly tackling the militants alone.
Cameroon's army says it killed 100 Boko Haram members and rescued 900 hostages late November, although some security sources have questioned the scale of the operation.
The United States has sent troops to Cameroon to help with intelligence and other operations against Boko Haram.

Boko Haram’s suicide bomber girls often unaware they’re carrying bombs — UN

Boko Haram’s suicide bomber girls often unaware they’re carrying bombs — UN

on    /   in News 7:09 pm
Many of the young girls Boko Haram sends out as suicide bombers in Nigeria and neighbouring countries are probably unaware that they will be blown up, a UN expert said Tuesday.
Boko Haram jihadists have in recent months increasingly used young women and girls as suicide bombers in northeast Nigeria, northern Cameroon, Chad and Niger, leaving death and destruction in their wake.
Leila Zerrougui, the UN secretary-general’s special representative on children and armed conflict, suggested Tuesday that especially the children used in this way were in many cases not aware of what they were about to do.
“Many of them don’t know that they will be blown up with remote devices,” she told reporters, pointing out many of the girls are as young as 11 or 12.
“I personally doubt that the children know,” Zerrougui said, adding that security forces had informed the UN that the bombs are often set off remotely.
“That means that it is not the person herself who did it,” she said.
Zerrougui lamented that the use of children as human bombs is one of the worst manifestations of an increasingly blatant disregard for the safety and security of minors in conflict situations around the world.
Elsewhere, thousands of youngsters are used as soldiers and children as young as four or five are being used as human shields on battlefields by armed groups like the Islamic State or the anti-Balaka in the Central African Republic, she said.
“This is the worst form where children are really put in danger and their bodies are really used as a weapon,” she insisted.
Zerrougui said that since she was appointed to her position in 2012, she has each year decried an increasingly dire situation for children caught up in conflicts, “and every year (it gets) even worse.”
And 2015 was no exception.
“I can say that 2015 was really a difficult year for children all over the world where conflicts are ongoing,” she said.
The world is currently dealing with six major conflicts, including in Syria and Yemen, compared to one or two normally.
And if you count protracted conflicts, a jaw-dropping 20 are currently impacting the lives of children around the world, she said.
“We have thousands of children killed, maimed, schools attacked and children by the thousands recruited in many places,” she said.
“Children are not only affected, they are specifically targeted.”

Serena Williams Named Sports Illustrated's 2015 'Sportsperson Of The Year'

This is the first time SI has chosen an individual female athlete since 1983.

 12/14/2015 09:26 am ET
Yu Tsai for Sports Illustrated
Thanks to a series of record-breaking performances on tennis courts across the globe, Serena Williams has been named Sports Illustrated’s 2015 “Sportsperson of the Year,” marking the first time an individual woman has received the honor in more than three decades.
Past recipients of the award include Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali and Billie Jean King, while the last individual female athlete chosen was track star Mary Decker in 1983.
“This year was spectacular,” Serena Williams said to SI. "For Sports Illustrated to recognize my hard work, dedication and sheer determination with this award gives me hope to continue on and do better. As I always say, it takes a village -- not just one person. This is not just an accomplishment for me, but for my whole team and all my fans. I am beyond honored.”
JULIAN FINNEY VIA GETTY IMAGES
Williams celebrates after winning the Wimbledon finals on July 11, 2015.
While Williams’ year was capped off by heartbreak and what-ifs in the form of a stunning U.S. Open loss to underdog Roberta Vinci, she amassed a 53-3 record and three major tournament titles, notched her second career Serena Slam and spent six weeks with more than double the ranking points of the No. 2 player in the world. She was just that dominant, just that much better than everyone else in the field, even while fighting through a series of injuries.
And while it all seemed to come crashing down in the days following that upset at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Williams claims that the lessons she learned the hard way in September of this year will only propel her to be tougher next time: to be hungrier, more accurate and more on her toes when the Vincis of the world lace up against her.
“I didn’t want to necessarily put a fist through a wall [when I lost at the U.S. Open] -- I felt more like, Ah, man, I was so close!” Williams explained. “I’ll always think about what I could have done better. Could I have come up on the net? Been more consistent? It’s not anger. It’s analyzing: What can I do next time?”
After all, as she wrote on Snapchat just about two months ago, she’ll be back. And she’ll be ready to reclaim the title of champion.
“I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is I dreamed about tennis last night. The bad news is everybody better watch out.”
