GOV POLL: Edo in Disapora kick against Obaseki

LAGOS - DINGINESS of Edo State under the platform of Edo in Diaspora, EID, have warned against the alleged plan to impose the chairman of the Economic Team of Edo State Government, Mr Godwin Obaseki as the likely successor to Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Prince Iyobosa Eweka noted that the alleged plan would not only back fire but would succeed in handing over the Government House to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2016.

He said, 'The Edos in Diaspora want Oshiomhole to provide a level playing field for all the governorship aspirants. Attempts to impose Obaseki in next year's poll will not only backfire but will succeed in handing over the Osadebe Government House to the opposition PDP. The rumoured move to impose an Obaseki on Edos is bound to fail.

'Indeed the Obaseki is a tittle that was given to a prosperous regent who became an administrator when Oba Ovoramen was sent on exile, sequel to the Benin massacre of 1897. He was compensated as an administrator of the kingdom and indeed made move to usurp the throne. Oba Eweka, in order to re-enact full control over his fathers kingdom honoured the rich and the urbane. The crown supersedes your wealth or commerce. We believe that the Governor Oshomhole has been ill-advised

'Our elders at home cannot stay aloof. They should educate the political leaders on the implication of that choice, We shall resist this seriously.
