I ask if Nigeria has a political challenge what will some of our African neighbours do? Will they be there for us as we have been for them? A case in point is that of South Africa, during their turbulent past of apartheid rein Nigeria fought with all her resources for the African majority to rule. We hosted millions of South Africans in Nigeria and gave them education on scholarships. When we were in school back in the days those South Africans who were staying Benin City and attending various secondary schools  and Univeristy of Benin were living like lords. Even Thambo Mbeki was in Suru-Lere Lagos during thse turbulent times. I ask again what have we benefited Zeno-phobia abi? Now the have shot themselves on the foot. They have relapsed back into their apartheid days. How can anyone in their right senses turn a gun that is loaded with live bullets not plastics bullets on a protesting citizen? I pity those Nigerians there with them. If they can do this to their own what do you expect from their law enforcement agencies?

The Central Bank of Nigeria says they are coming out with a #5.000 note in September 2012.  My take on this is that, It looks like we are following the path of Brazil in the 1980's when they were printing all kinds of denominations.  At a time they ran out of ideas and started revising their currency, their single unit became the highest while the highest became the lowest. They could not get out of the economic crunch until they faced reality. We do not need #5,000 Naira note what we need is Naira to be at par with  the dollars. period.

A disaster is in the making right here in Benin City, Edo State. The world meteorological council had advised Nigeria of the impending flood in the next couple of months. It is in compliance to this advise that the Lagos State government destroyed the shanty towns of Oworonsoki. The people who are squatting at Ikpe River near Idogbo along the Benin-Abraka Road in Ikpoba-Okha are already having a taste of the forecast flooding. Their shanty homes has been overtaking by flood. The State or Local government are not doing anything about their plight. The Comrade Governor should borrow a leaf from Fashola of Lagos State by going there now to evacuate those people immediately as a stitch in time saves nine.
