Let us reclaim our destiny. About three weeks ago I got some inquiry from a foreign firm about the possibility of buying rubber from Nigeria. After a careful search I found only two rubber factories still functioning in Benin City and Edo State. They are Odia Rubber Factory in Benin and Paulosa Rubber Factory in Ologbo. The problem is that with the kind of volume the firm is willing to buy these two companies working around the clock can not meet the demand. Also there are no more rubber trees in the forest and rubber tappers are no more there. In this age of unemployment, I think Comrade Adams should make planting of rubber trees a state policy so that in the nearest future we can claim back our prominent position in the industry.
