The Oba of Benin today visited the state governor or better still attended the swearing in ceremony at the government house. Although many people are seeing it as a good development for the governor but there are several others who believe that the Oba by his visit is diminishing the tradition of the Benin people. Saying they beleive that in the previous first term of the Comrade Adams rule, the Oba had several of his children appointed to key positions. They susoect that his visit may be connected to lobbying the governor to appoint more of his children into positions as the governor has named just two. They say that the Benin traditional stool has being in existence for over 800 years that they will not seat back and watch the Oba or anyone else brings that stool to ridicule. Some others are of the view  that giving the victory of General Charles at the Court of Appeal today the Obas visit was calculated to showcase his support for the governor. As at the time of writing this article we were not able to get comments from the palace.
