Why are there no price reduction for products during Christmas in Nigeria?

All over the world, Christmas is a period to give, hence price slash and reduction. Not so in Nigeria where, Christmas is seen as a period to massively exploit Nigerians by, the small and big businesses. Children are not left out of the exploitation, as they are made to pay $10 for a 1 minute visit with Father Christmas, who in turn, gives then a note book and a pen worth $1.

Here is my response to the post on facebook.

You made a great observation, I think most of those price discounts overseas comes from the product manufacturers. Here in Nigeria will do not produce anything, we are imported goods consumer so distributors can do much. The other thing is that since we do not have social safety nets, our people sees every opportunity as chance to move up the lada. They become profit driven and exploitative.
