Fred Uyigue speaks his mind on what Edo people should expect from their next governor.

1.     Edo State is bigger than any and every politician's ambitions.

2.     Edo State is not for sale.

3.     Edo State will not serve as a host to wanton and inordinate corruption anymore.

4.     Edo State shall not again elevate mediocrity over competence and capability.

5.     Edo State shall not mortgage good governance on the altar of thuggery, where brawns, not brains hold sway.

6.     Edo State shall not be subjected to government by the myopic.

7.     Edo State shall not again be administered by a governor who spends state funds out of his breast or pants pockets. 

8.     Edo State shall not again be governed by a leader who decides state affairs in his mother's, wife's or daughter's kitchen.

9.     Edo State shall not anymore accommodate leaders whose stock in trade are endless excuses.

10.   Edo State shall not again be fleeced by a tax-and-spend governor, who does not understand what investment generating financial application and processes are.

11.   Edo State should not and shall not vote for round pegs candidates to fill square pegs responsibilities.

12.   The next governor must be able to hit the ground running and not engage professional and specialist socio-economic potential contributors to state development in long and myopic debates on established fundamentals.

13.   Edo State shall not again be governed by any man or woman, who does not have an appreciation for the imperatives and benefits of the constituted structures of the arms and tiers of government.

Simply stated,

14.   Edo State should not and shall not stand second to any state of the Union of Nigeria States.
